Fitness Motivation for Moms: Summer Workout Routines, Burnout Tips & Mindset Mantras

Hey mamas! ☀️

June is finally here — and with it comes longer days, louder giggles, sandy car floors, and the beautiful chaos of summer break. Whether you’re a working mom juggling summer camps and meetings, a stay-at-home mom pulling off daily snack negotiations, or somewhere in between — one thing’s for sure: the energy of summer hits different.

And yet… it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, unmotivated, or just plain tapped out. I get it.

But I want you to hear this: you don’t need to be in survival mode this summer.

June is your invitation to reset — to recharge your body, refocus your energy, and reclaim your joy.

Let’s break down how we’re doing that together in the Sweaty as a Mother crew this month:

1. Resetting Your Routine (Without Overhauling Your Life)

You don’t need to start from scratch or wait for Monday. Instead of aiming for “perfect,” let’s aim for possible.

Try this:

  • Wake up 5 minutes earlier to stretch and breathe before the day begins.

  • Block off time on your calendar for one 30-minute SAAM workout — treat it like a doctor’s appointment.

  • Pick ONE non-negotiable for the week (ex: “I’ll move my body 3x, no matter what”).

Remember, consistency beats intensity. You’re building strength that lasts — physically and mentally.

2. Summer Sweat: Why Movement in the Sunshine Just Hits Different

Working out in fresh air? It’s a total mood-lifter. Your kids run wild, you get those endorphins pumping, and we all leave a little sweatier and a lot more alive.

This June, our Bootcamps are going strong every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday:

  • We’re lifting, running, pushing, squatting, and cheering each other on.

  • It’s not just a workout — it’s your hour to be you again.

Bring a friend. Bring the kids. Bring your sass and your water bottle. You’ll leave stronger — every single time.

if you’re not local, find somewhere to meet a friend and workout together in the park!

3. Mom Burnout is Real — Here's How to Fight It

There’s pressure to do it all in summer: create magical memories, keep the house running, plan the perfect vacay… but let’s be real — burnout doesn’t care about your Pinterest board.

Here’s what I want for you instead:

🌿 Breathe before you scroll. Start your day with a 3-minute moment of stillness before diving into your phone.

🌿 Say no without guilt. You’re not available for energy-draining activities this season — protect your peace.

🌿 Ask for help. Even Wonder Woman had backup.

🌿 Connect. Text a mom friend. Walk with your neighbor. Come to a SAAM class — we need each other more than ever.

4. What We’re Loving This Month

Every month, I’ll share a few of our current obsessions to support your body and mind. Here’s June’s faves:

💪 Move:
Long band workouts you can do poolside or on vacation. Just toss it in your suitcase and go.

🍓 Fuel:
Post-workout protein popsicles — Greek yogurt, frozen banana, PB and my fav chocolate protein blended and frozen in molds. Your kids will ask for one, too.

🧠 Mind: June Mantras

“I don’t need a full hour — I just need to show up.”

  1. “I can reset at any moment.”

  2. “My body is strong. My mind is stronger.”

  3. “Sweat is my self-care.”

  4. “I fuel my energy — not my guilt.”

👕 Style:
Our SAAM crewnecks flew off the shelves but we still have some hats!! — comfy, breathable, and mom-strong approved.
